Shire Hill Farm: Welcome to our Blog!

Erica and Daniel moved to North Carolina in the spring of 2024. Since their move they have closed on their farm property, experienced life in a camper with four pets, survived hurricane Helene, and learned about living life on a local goat farm.

About Us

We are two native Floridians who were looking for a change in lifestyle. Florida was turning into a strip-mall filled overdeveloped heatwave. We were looking for a place to move where we could experience the four seasons (instead of a nearly endless summer), connect with the local community, and start our own regenerative-based farm.

Erica grew up as an avid participant in 4-H and went on to earn a bachelor's degree in equine business management and a master's degree in business administration. Since moving to North Carolina, she had the opportunity to work and stay at a local goat farm, Mount Gilead Farm and French Broad Creamery. There she got to further experience working with goats, sheep, chickens, pigs, and cows.

Daniel holds a degree in engineering, has a professional engineering license, and works as a civil engineer. He hopes to use his engineering knowledge to help design and create the structures needed at Shire Hill Farm. He is great at assisting in farm-related repairs and just learned how to process chickens in December!
